The WatchGuard Firebox System Delivers the Richest Security Features in its Class.
• Firewall software controls incoming and outgoing Internet traffic. WatchGuard’s advanced
security proxies and stateful packet filtering extend well beyond traditional packet filtering by
reassembling and examining an entire data stream to detect and remove dangerous attachments
before they enter your network. For example, our SMTP proxy protects your e-mail server from
threats such as the “I Love You” virus and by stripping hacker commands.
• Streamlined VPN support simplifies management of your VPNs by allowing you to route VPN
traffic to multiple VPN end points using a single VPN tunnel, reducing the number of tunnels
to manage. Our VPN software lets you configure security policies on VPN tunnels to your business
partners, restricting their access to your networks and giving you secure VPN Extranets.
WatchGuard Mobile User VPN client software easily integrates into your Firebox System to give
your traveling employees secure communications.
• User Authentication lets you establish granular network access policies that can be enforced
based on individuals or groups, for example, employees, departments, or teams. User Authentication
also allows you to monitor and report on Internet usage by individuals or groups. The Firebox
System can authenticate against the built-in WatchGuard authentication server, as well as Windows

• NAT hides your internal IP addresses, and allows internal servers with unregistered IP addresses
to function as Internet-accessible servers, increasing your network security.

firewalls from a central location inside or outside your trusted network, even from your laptop!

your traffic data is always available, and lets you see all your devices from a single management
station. The Firebox System supports both Syslog (UDP) and reliable encrypted TCP-based
logging, allowing the export of logs to third party reporting applications such as WebTrends

• Flexible Management Options give you the flexibility to configure your security solution safely
from inside and outside of your private network. Configuration and management from outside
your network is possible because the Firebox uses strong encryption (3DES) to secure your
management session. You can manage your network security from anywhere, at any time, with
no additional setup steps, and with confidence.
• Monitoring and Reporting allow you to closely scrutinize your network traffic. Flexible reports
can be generated based on traffic type, destination IP address, user group, denied packets, source
IP address and many other criteria.
